Seaway Mall Celebrates Black History Month with Rochelle Bush, Descendant of Freedom Seekers
Welland, February 6, 2024 – Seaway Mall is proud to announce a special Black History Month event in partnership with the Welland Public Library on February 10th, featuring guest speaker Rochelle Bush. With her extensive knowledge of Black history, Rochelle will delve into the rich heritage of Black settlers, communities, and events in old Lincoln and Welland counties.
Rochelle’s direct lineage of freedom seekers traces back to her great-grandfather, who served as the minister-in-charge of the church where Harriet Tubman was a member. Her deep understanding of the Underground Railroad and fact-based presentation sheds light on the crucial roles played by freedom seekers in the history of the area we live in today, offering a unique perspective on the region’s cultural history.
Over fifteen years ago, Rochelle created the Harriet Tubman Tour to highlight the heroic figure’s time in St. Catharines and has since been providing a breadth of knowledge for tourists and residents alike through guided tours. Rochelle comes to us backed with over 25 years of experience, personal knowledge, and the title of Certified Niagara Tourism Ambassador, making her presentation at Seaway Mall a must-see opportunity.

This event is an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate the remarkable contributions of Black individuals to our local heritage.”
The event will take place at Seaway Mall on February 10th, from 2pm-3:30pm. Admission is free, and all community members are encouraged to attend.
