Welland, ON, January 18, 2023 – Join us at the Seaway Mall (800 Niagara St, Welland) on Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28th where we will be displaying the book “On My Walk” by Kari-Lynn Winters throughout the mall via a family StoryWalk™!
The StoryWalk™ is simple-this activity will start at the Seaway Mall Welland Public Library branch, where an activity kit will be handed out for children to complete the optional activities on each story board. The boards will be placed throughout the mall starting at the Library, wrapping through the main hallway (past Bear Sushi and Bell) and ending at EarlyON. At each StoryWalk™ activity station, parents can help define a safe activity space for their child, remind them to be mindful of others in the nearby space, and invite them to share their ideas and express themselves! The best rule of all is to always have fun!
Additionally, on Friday January 27th at 11am, we will gather at Coles in the Seaway Mall for an interactive reading of the book “On My Walk” where copies can be purchased and signed. Author Dr. Kari-Lynn Winters says it best, that “Literacy is best understood when it is embodied and authentic. StoryWalks™ offer young children lived and social opportunities to learn, play, relate to others, and thrive!” Her interactive reading will allow children to experience literacy through moving their body to hop around, catch rain, and run on the spot!
We’d like to remind everyone that the StoryWalk™ is completely free and can be enjoyed on your own leisure at any time from January 27th-28th during mall hours!
