Seaway Mall & SPCA to Host Halloween Monster Bash and Trick-or-Treating

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seaway Mall & SPCA to Host Halloween Monster Bash and Trick-or-Treating

Welland, O.N., Oct. 11., 2022—Mark your calendars, because this October the Seaway Mall and Niagara SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) are uniting forces to host their annual Halloween event, Monster Bash, followed by Trick-or-Treating. The Monster Bash event will run 4pm-7pm in the Centre Court of the Seaway Mall (800 Niagara Street), and Trick-or-Treating will run 5pm-7pm throughout the mall, with thanks to participating mall retailers.

The Monster Bash event has been running for several years at the Seaway Mall, but what makes it so successful (other than the bouncer and free candy) is the work that happens behind the scenes in support of the Niagara SPCA. Each year, the SPCA leads a donation-based photo opportunity at the Monster Bash which allows guests to get their picture taken in their Halloween costumes. When asked about the importance of the event, John Hoadley (Multimedia Producer at the Niagara SPCA) mentioned that “public support is critical for the SPCA as much of our operations, especially medical treatment, are funded by public donations. Because of that support we are able to rehome thousands of animals every year and treat animals who come in with significant injuries.” John went on to mention that “while social media is helpful, in-person events increase exposure to what the SPCA does. Shelters are often situated out of the way (in terms of location) so public outreach is essential. Engaging young members of the community can foster an interest in future support in terms of volunteering or even pursuit of a career in animal services.”

If you’re interested in attending the free Monster Bash and Trick-or-Treating events on October 31st, be sure to dress up, bring the little ones, and don’t forget to thank our Niagara SPCA members for all their hard work!
