Welland, On— June 17, 2020 — The Seaway Mall announced today that it will reopen on Friday June 19th, with new measures in place to allow for a safer shopping experience. With newly installed hand sanitization stations, enhanced cleaning and hygiene practices, and signage to help maintain social distancing guidelines, the mall looks forward to welcoming back shoppers in a safe and comfortable manner. Initially, mall hours will be limited as follows:
Monday to Friday: 10am – 6pm Saturday & Sunday: 11am – 5pm
Mall hours will be adjusted over the next few weeks as more stores reopen. According to Seaway Mall President Mike Belcastro, “It’s going to be staggered, which is probably a good thing so everybody can get a handle of what’s going on. This is all new to all of us.” The mall has been helping tenants prepare according to the new provincial guidelines and is prepared for reopening. Belcastro said that in addition to increasing measures for both customer and staff safety, several of the national retailers have been inside their stores bringing in new inventory.
Steps To Providing A Positive Experience
During these reduced hours, Customer Service will remain open to assist guests with their shopping experience, but with some limitations. Services available will include wheelchairs, gift card purchases, ink refill, balloons, general inquires, and directions. The nursing room will be open, but with controlled access and cleaning procedures in place after each use.
Hand sanitizing stations will be located at the entrances and throughout the shopping center for public use, and additional signage has been installed throughout the mall to assist with maintaining social distancing guidelines.
Initially, the food court will only provide take-out services. Food Court seating has been removed as per provincial guidelines, and there will be increased cleaning of the area as well as all common areas. General in-mall seating has been limited. Curbside pickup options will remain available for stores as requested. Please note the hours for individual stores may vary.
