The City of Welland calls for Volunteers at the Seaway Mall

The City of Welland is excited to be present in the Seaway Mall. As of June 4th, two interns, Joanna and Bryan, will be located in the Seaway Mall to promote the many events of the Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC) and to recruit ambitious individuals to volunteers to continue the success of these events. The headliner event for the summer is the ICF Canoe Polo World Championships, which occurs from July 31st through August 5th at the WIFC North Course.

Joanna Aiello, a resident of Welland, will be fulfilling the role of communications and social media for WIFC and the Canoe Polo Welland. Bryan Dutot, of Leamington, moved to Welland for the summer to join in on the excitement and will be filling the role as volunteer coordinator.

Many volunteers have already registered to be a part of the waterway events. We are specifically looking for volunteers for June 28th through July 1st for the Canadian Dragon Boat Championships; July 15th for the RowOntario Provincial Masters; and for July 31st through August 5th for the ICF Canoe Polo World Championships. Each volunteer receives a t-shirt, lunch, and stipend funds that will be allocated to a local non-profit or sports organization of their choosing.

Joanna and Bryan have been present in the community. Bryan was at the grand opening of the skatepark on Saturday, June 9th and Joanna was at Berry Bonanza at the Welland Farmer’s Market on Saturday, June 16th.
