(Welland, Ontario) February 10th, 2018 – Dozens of people sang along Chorus Niagara during their We Rise Again performance. One of the 30 songs they interpreted during the 5-hour chorus marathon Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Centre Court, Seaway Mall.
The 12th Annual Singathon featured Guest Conductors such as the Founder of Christmas in the Village in Jordan, Melissa Shriner; President of Brock University, Dr Gervan Fearon; and the Mayor of Wainfleet, April Jeffs. Groups such as the Momentum Chorus and Hallelujah Chorus, recognized for their “Christmas Food Court Flash Mob” YouTube viral video, performed as well.
Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir appeared on stage from 12:00 pm. to 12:30 p.m., entertaining the audience not only with their voices but also with their very organized act, which included various presenters.
Last year $56,000 was raised by the singathon. The goal this time was to raise $55,000 to support the organization’s 54th performance season. On Saturday, Chorus Niagara was able to collect $1752.40 in donations, and it is still adding up a grand total, soon to be known.
“Thanks to all of you for coming out on such a snowy day”, said Chorus Niagara. “We are Canadian!” they added.
Chorus Niagara will be having a total of five concerts this season at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines. St. Matthew Passion will be taking place on Saturday, March 03, at 7:30 pm.
